I think this is what we need to remind the worried parents who are so concerned that some children are capable of doing things that their child is not yet. When faced with such comparisons, I remind the parents that only a few months of age difference makes a big difference. Moreover each child develops at his/her own pace. If they are capable of doing major things that are expected from that age, like being able to talk, sit or be potty trained by certain age they are doing just fine and they only need time to master other skills. In some kids it happens sooner than the others and this does not imply the other children are developmentally behind. However, as the doctor in the video said if the parents are too concerned and if the chid is showing developmental issues it is best to consult with a pediatrician. Thanks for your post and all the other posts during this course and all the insightful information you shared with us. I wish you all the best!
